Fırat University Building and Concrete Application and Research Center (YABEM) continues its studies on building materials, construction technologies, concrete technology, structural mechanics, earthquake and damage assessment with its experienced academic staff, qualified administrative staff and extensive laboratory facilities.

Fırat University YABEM continues its strategic studies for our province, region and country through national and international collaborations. In this context, it is open to all kinds of cooperation offers.

The objectives of our Application and Research Center are as follows:

a) To carry out academic studies, develop projects, organize courses and seminars on building behavior under earthquake effect and building material science, especially concrete and its components, and contribute to the development of the University's relations with public institutions and organizations, private sector and international organizations through these programs,

b) Preparing educational materials such as educational brochures, posters, CDs, organizing educational public meetings and seminars to be attended by local administrations in order to raise public awareness about the precautions to be taken before an earthquake and to create a conscious society in this regard, carrying out studies for the planning and execution of emergency aid and rescue activities to be carried out after an earthquake,

c) To organize joint activities with relevant ministries, professional chambers, public institutions and organizations and private sector organizations, to participate in and support organized activities and to provide scientific opinions to those concerned,

d) To ensure the sharing of the knowledge and technology obtained in the field of earthquake engineering by organizing national and international scientific meetings, research, studies, courses, seminars, conferences, congresses, training and education programs,

e) To conduct, encourage and coordinate basic and applied research on civil engineering, building and building material concrete, and to organize academic and scientific meetings,

f) To carry out studies and provide consultancy services on the effects of earthquakes on engineering structures and people and mitigation of earthquake damages,

g) In order to prevent earthquakes from causing loss of life in Turkey, to raise public awareness on this issue and to ensure that they take the necessary precautions, to carry out training activities for the public, to organize in-service training programs and seminars in cooperation with relevant public institutions and organizations,

ğ) To organize national and international scientific meetings, courses and seminars, to communicate with similar centers in Turkey and abroad, to carry out joint studies, to transfer new developments in the field of earthquake engineering related to structures and materials to the relevant segments in Turkey, to encourage, support and disseminate activities within the country,

h) To establish a laboratory capable of performing all experiments related to concrete and its components and to promote this laboratory at national and international level and to ensure its most effective use,

ı) To pioneer and create a platform for urban transformation studies, primarily in Elazığ, to cooperate with the relevant public institutions and organizations, to map the earthquake resistance map of the approximate structures in Elazığ and other provinces in regions and thus to create an earthquake risk map, to create an archive within the Center during these studies,

i) To participate in research and technology development activities within the scope of European Union framework programs, to develop and carry out joint projects,

j) To contribute to the development of related disciplines within the University, to coordinate, conduct and assist in the conduct of joint research and education programs to be carried out between these disciplines,

k) In cooperation with the relevant units/departments of the University, to assist in the training of students, lecturers and other personnel at all levels on materials, to make publications for this purpose, to organize in-service training programs,

l) Establishing a documentation center on materials, so that those concerned can easily access the necessary information and resources,

m) To perform other duties assigned to the Center in accordance with the provisions of the relevant legislation in accordance with the purpose of its establishment.
