The field studies of the project titled 'Creation of earthquake risk maps for the Central Neighborhoods of Elazig Province and the information bank infrastructure that will guide urban transformation' prepared within the scope of AFAD National Earthquake Research Program have started. Within the scope of field studies, the first site work was conducted in Sürsürü Neighborhood, which is one of the central neighborhoods of Elazığ. At this stage, in addition to the personnel working in the site, two academicians and scholarship holders were constantly present. With this first site study, data belonging to many buildings were collected and analyzed in the office environment.
In the second phase of the site work, the work started in Izzet Pasha Neighborhood, one of the central neighborhoods of Elazig. At this stage, two academicians and scholarship staff worked together in the field every day, managed the studies and solved the problems that arose. At this stage, all buildings in İzzet Pasha Neighborhood were examined and data were taken.
Our site work continues in University Neighborhood and Yenimahalle, one of the neighborhoods of Elazığ Center.
Students of the Civil Engineering departments of our university support us in field studies. In addition, Elazig Municipality and Firat University provide the transportation of the personnel doing site works. We would like to thank our valuable people who cooperate with us in our work.
