The duties of conducting educational, enlightening and awareness-raising activities for the public in the field of disaster and emergency management, organizing trainings for the public, cooperating with relevant public institutions and organizations, non-governmental organizations, universities and private sector in this regard, "planning, developing and ensuring the implementation of the necessary programs for training, educating and raising the level of knowledge of the personnel of other institutions and organizations that will perform the services in the field of duty and responsibility of the Presidency" and "organizing seminars, symposiums, conferences and similar events on issues related to the duties and activities of the Presidency" have been assigned to AFAD Presidency.

With the vision of creating a disaster-resilient society and integrated disaster management approach, AFAD Presidency carries out its activities with the responsibility of prioritizing the culture of taking precautions in the society and gaining knowledge and skills, changing attitudes and behaviors before, during and after disasters. Within the scope of the activities carried out with this understanding of duty and responsibility, 2021 has been designated as "Turkey Disaster Education Year" by our Presidency and "Disaster Education Mobilization" has been launched across the country. Within the framework of Turkey Disaster Education Year, it is aimed to increase and spread disaster awareness in cooperation with public institutions and organizations, local administrations, universities, non-governmental organizations and private organizations.

In this context, a program has been planned with the Directors/authorized representatives of the Research and Application Centers related to Disaster and Emergency Situations within the Universities in order to share the progress made in the studies carried out by the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency and to consult the opinions and suggestions on the subject.

This consultation and evaluation meeting was held on 22.12.2021 at Gölbaşı/Ankara Vilayetler Evi, under the chairmanship of Minister of Interior Süleyman SOYLU, with the participation of Rectors, Administrators and Researchers from 43 Universities.

Fırat University was represented by our Rector Prof. Dr. Fahrettin GOKTAS and YABEM Director Prof. Dr. Kürşat Esat ALYAMAÇ. In his speeches, Mr. Rector emphasized the important contributions of designating 2022 as the Disaster Preparedness Year. Prof. Dr. Kürşat Esat ALYAMAÇ, Director of YABEM, stated in his speech that he wholeheartedly believes that "ensuring the sustainability of the unity of the Centers related to Disaster and Emergency Situations will make a great contribution to the development of our country in this field".
